Language Experience Books

Experience books are for all ages - from tiny babies on up through the school years. Language experience books are an easy and great way to enhance your child's learning, language and literacy skills. The process of creating an experience book helps children to share experiences and happenings with others, as well as have the opportunity to hear and practice language through meaningful and repetitive experiences. Such a book may contain basic experiences (like playing in the park or going shopping), but also the more complex experiences of weekend excursions and holidays. The Experience Book helps other important grown-ups to communicate with children about their experiences. With an Experience Book a child can ‘relive’ past experiences. It is important to link language to experience and such a book serves as a tool to reinforce language as well as teach new vocabulary.
