Panathlon Swimming competition

On the last day before the festive month began, it was the turn of the Panathlon Swimming competition which included a variety of races and games. Aya, Rhiannon, Francis, Odhran and Blythe were the chosen from Wimbledon class and Ayyan and Lillie from Parrot Class to make a strong team of seven.

The aim of this competition was to ensure all the children involved had an enjoyable time regardless of the end result. The first 4 events were swimming based, this differed from their own choice of stroke to swimming with floats minimizing the use of arms and maximizing the use of their legs.

The final three events were game based such as relay race with a hoop shot to finish, a raft race and treasure hunt, all points scored across all events were totalled up to find out which position each school came, overall there were 6 schools.

Before each race, the team or single student taking part would receive an inspiring team talk from Dennis who hoped this would spur them on to victory.

A very impressive effort from all of students but now was the wait to find out if we had won a medal and if so, what colour… It was silver! A very proud moment for all staff and students involved, especially seeing the work they have been put in during their swimming lessons with Lucy and Dennis.

Overall we would like to thank the organisers from for the invitation, Northolt Leisure centre for the hospitality and last but not least our students who’s attitude and behaviour was second to none all day.
