Habilitation VI UK Meeting

In January the Mobility Team at Linden Lodge School hosted the regional meeting for HabVIUK (the national professional body for habilitation practitioners).

During the day, participants enjoyed the expertise of two inspirational speakers. The first was David Couch, Principal of Hamilton Lodge School and College, in Brighton. David, a former Commissioner of Services at East Sussex County Council and a qualified Teacher of the Deaf, spoke about Educational and Health Care Plans and the underpinning legislation. He also provided very practical advice about how professionals can best ensure that they meet the needs of the children and young people in their care.

The second speaker was Sarah Wild, the Head of Limpsfield Grange School, a residential and day school in Oxted, Surrey for girls aged 11 -16 with communication and interaction difficulties. Sarah presented many useful strategies that can be applied when working with female students with autism and anxiety issues.
